Is there a way to show multiple email accounts as tabs across the top?
It gets cluttered with everything on the left side. I imagine a system like Gmail with tabs on top, but instead of "primary" "social" "promotions", it would have "email account 1, email account 2, email account 3" etc.
Any plugin like this out there?

Right-click an account on the left side (Folder Pane), Open In New Tab.

Right-click an account on the left side (Folder Pane), Open In New Tab.
This add-on:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/quickfolders-tabbed-folders/
lets you set selected folders as tabs. And it lets you set up groups of tabs.
Personally I don't like the toolbar it adds to the message pane, but this can be disabled.
