It does seem harmful, but I have to delete it over and over. When clicked on, it opens a draft page which also states (Draft) Mozilla Firefox Startup Page. Thanks if anyone knows solution.

Let's do this one at a time. First;

Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences

Then General.

There are two settings;

  • When Firefox Starts

When the browser is started, what do you want to display. Many of us choose Show My Home Page.

  • Home Page

When a new page is opened, what do you want displayed.

  1. Use Current Page. Use what ever page(s) are open at that time.
  2. Use Bookmark
  3. Restore To Default. about:home shows a Mozilla page with tools.

You can use any of these that you wish;

about:home (Firefox default home page), about:newtab (shows the sites most visited), about:blank (a blank page),

or you can enter any web page or about: page you want.

Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 12.1.3.153 Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 12.1.2.152

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.

Also, you have no Shockwave.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware. Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is and what it does. Also, check the programs that are on your computer

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder Linux:

  • Ubuntu Unity {web link}
  • Xfce: Applications Menu category sections
  • options depends on the package manager and the desktop environment

Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't know what it is, use a web search.

Fred, thanks for the help. I have done malware scan. It detected no malware. In my programs, I have Adobe flash player 14 plugin and Adobe shockwave player 12.1, which I just added. In add-ons I have Shockwave Active X Control, and Shockwave Flash Object. Don't know what either is for. In plugins I have disabled one of the Adobe Shockwave for director netscape plugin versions, The only add-on I installed is Adblocker Plus and the Adobe stuff. Both after problem already existed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox. Problem is still happening. It is setting me up to draft an e-mail with Mozilla Firefox startup page printed after the word draft, with the title No Recipients. They are there when I check e-mail from firefox but are not there when I check e-mail from IE. Never had to deal with so much adobe stuff before. Maybe I still missed something? Thanks bwebb

Every time I open Firefox it sends me an e-mail How do you mean, sends an e-mail? Or is it a message box?

Don't know what Flash is for. Flash type programs open a window within the web page for a player to sit in to play video / audio on the web page.

What are you using as Mozilla Firefox start up page?

You can change the setting to;

about:home (Firefox default home page), about:newtab (shows the sites most visited), about:blank (a blank page),

or you can enter any web page or about: page you want.

I was using google as home startup page. I tried to change startup page default setting, but did not type in a correct url address, then could not get back the right menu to correct problem. After this when I opened firefox I got the problem with url address window, Tried typing about: home in url bar but received same message. Finally decided to try system reset. Started working but then said something like This is embarrising but we cannot reset because we cannot locate windows components and something else. You may have too many tabs open. Try closing some or close and open new browsing session. Tried all that but nothing happened. Kept receiving same message. After that I was pretty discouraged and for the hell of restarted laptop and made Bing my homepage. Don't exactly know why, but everything is now working fine. When I open firefox bing pops up with no problems, and when I go to my email there are no messages from firefox to draft anything. Go figure. Thanks for trying to help. bwebb

I have checked those settings and they are set like you stated. I actually accessed that toolbar right from the menu icon in mozilla tool bar. If possible, I believe instead of show my home page option, it previously had mozilla startup page written in light slanted grey print which I never typed that in or chose it. Everything is working fine now. Thanks for the help.
