new tab asks for credentials

I can not seem to figure out why every time I open a new tab firefox prompts me for an LDAP login requested directly from contribute.mozilla.org. Each and every time I open a new tab I must close out of this as I do not have these credentials and it really puts a hiccup in what I'm trying to do, every single ctrl+t. Please help me solve this problem for good. Thank you.

Is it possible that one of the tiles on the new tab page is connected to that site?

My image would not upload with the original post but seems to be working fine. A screenshot of my new tab window as it appears every single time. Thank you again.

Well, I took another look at the tab screen and saw support.mozilla.com, so I shifted through and unpinned everything mozilla as the LDAP login is requested from our browsing developers. It appears after replacing all items with other websites I visit, the problem has disappeared. For me, I can verify that is indeed the solution, simply removing anything mozilla.

Support.mozilla was the only page related to firefox pinned at the time of this problem but I also made sure non of the other firefox links were pinned. Will add them to the bookmarks bar if needed. Thank you for your replay and help in this matter. A long overdue annoyance is finally fixed.

Changes made manually on the about:newtab page are stored in prefs that you can find on the about:config page.

  • browser.newtabpage.pinned stores websites that you have pinned to a tile.
  • browser.newtabpage.blocked stores websites that you have removed by clicking the X button in a tile.

Hmm, that sounds like a bug. Simply displaying a support tile shouldn't require LDAP. Maybe you have an unusual setting that was overlooked in testing.

I did just have it happen randomly after booting my computer for the first time and opening one new tab. The second new tab after that did not display this prompt. It definitely does sound like a bug. My web browser is the one application I have a lot to learn about still, so I'm not exactly sure how to go about troubleshooting or solving the problem. I'll likely be researching the topic eventually as it is much needed. I've barely explored with the about:config menu. Just thought this further information might help. I was unable to find anything else on the web about it. Appears to be a rare problem.

In your screen shot, there appears to be an RSS feed ("Live bookmark") on your Bookmarks Toolbar. Those may update at various intervals. Something else to check when you get time.
