This Connection is Untrusted You have asked Firefox to connect securely to www.facebook.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure. Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue. I updated Firefox today and now I can go to Facebook anymore. So I am switching to a different browser.... This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate.

www.facebook.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

hi, in order to know what's going on we probably need more information about the issuer of the failing certificate. please proceed like this: enter chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul into the location bar, and in the page that opens, set the server location to "https://www.facebook.com" in order to retrieve and view the certificate. then please report back with the data of the issued by section of the certificate viewer. thank you!

Hi Michael, the above steps should help track down the issue, which may be your security software (e.g., avast!, BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky), or something else.

I just wanted to ask whether you used Firefox Refresh feature recently? This could occur when Firefox reports that it is starting slowly, and offers to restore some default settings to speed things up. If you click that button, Firefox moves your old settings folder to the desktop inside a folder named Old Firefox Data. Do you see anything like that? If you do, please hang onto it in case we recommend using any of those files to solve issues in your "cleaned up" Firefox.

We have seen reports that the time as set via an internet based time service was so much out of sync that an error occurs, so if that is the case with you this service or try to switch to another time service.

As you can see in the screenshot, the certificate is issued by your Avast security software, so you need to check the settings to monitor secure connections (HTTPS scanning) in the Avast software.
