Simply type into the Search bar on your toolbar or on the New Tab page.

As you type into the toolbar search, your default search engine shows you suggestions to help you search faster. These suggestions are based on popular searches or on your previous searches (if enabled). [HOW DO I DISABLE THIS]

Hi gunnylarry,

I will edit your original post. You indented a paragraph by using a leading space. Our forum software does not like that, it treats the paragraph as one long line like:

You can set Firefox not to display auto suggestions from the search engine. See

You will need to read the article to understand the possibilities. Also note you may have some control over what the search engine does and what the search site stores. This is nothing to do with Firefox (other than the fact you use Firefox as the browser whilst searching) but for instance with Google see
