Hi, Helpful Firefox Friends,

I need help with rearranging my Bookmarks dropdown list to make things run the way I like. I am veteran Firefox User (and Mozilla/Composer etc. from way back when). I am running Firefox 42.0 on openSUSE 13.2. Both of these are completely up to date. I am a fan of Firefox, which is the only browser that I use on my laptop.

My question is about how to prefix certain unwanted titles with "ZZZ-" to make sure that they appear only at the bottom of the bookmarks dropdown list, rather than at the top. The problem is that these six titles appear only on the bookmarks dropdown box when I press <Alt>+<B>. They do not appear in the "library/all bookmarks" window in a way that I could edit them to insert the prefix. The six titles which I want to move to a more appropriate (and less prominent) space in the list are: Show all bookmarks Bookmark this page Subscribe to this page Bookmark all tabs Bookmarks toolbar Get bookmark add-ons

I don't want them to be entirely removed as options. That's why I'd like them to be at the bottom. I simply want to have them out of sight, since I have a highly organized hierarchy within my bookmark system. I always use keystrokes, never pointer clicks, for accessing my bookmarks. Having those six in my eyesight area when I open my bookmarks to seek some desired URL seems unhelpful. By placing a prefix of ZZZ- in front of them, they would in alphabetical indexing be found at the bottom of the list rather than at the top.

I would appreciate any ideas you have on helping me relocate these six titles.

Thanks,

Dave

Those are items that appear in the list by default. You can try to give them a higher -moz-box-ordinal-group value to reorder items and move them to the bottom. All items have -moz-box-ordinal-group:1 by default. You can adjust the number to set a specific order of each of the items.

Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.

@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

#bookmarksToolbarFolderMenu,#bookmarksMenuItemsSeparator {-moz-box-ordinal-group:10}
#bookmarksShowAll, #organizeBookmarksSeparator {-moz-box-ordinal-group:15}

#menu_bookmarkThisPage,
#subscribeToPageMenuitem,
#menu_bookmarkAllTabs {-moz-box-ordinal-group:11}

#menu_unsortedBookmarks {}

The customization files userChrome.css (user interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder.

Hi again,

I just now sent in a question which got scramble because I typed the magic sequence.... LESS THAN + B + GREATER THAN .... which got interpreted as a BOLD THE FOLLOWING TEXT request. I attach a screenprint of the text processed question in .jpg form.

Thanks again,

Dave
