Troubleshooting Information?

Hi Crist...

I tryed to get to this part as you asked. So far, here is what I can see in this Mail and News Accounts troubleshooting info. s that what you mean/ask?

The only difference I see is in the new acc that I created to test (it works) that has what George said about smtp.Gmail and smtp.googlemail -- but I don't think this is the key to resolve this ongong problem with this particular acc asking for a password an coming with error.

	Incoming server Outgoing servers
ID Name Connection security Authent method Default?

account2 (pop3) pop.googlemail.com:995 SSL/TLS Normal password

               	smtp.googlemail.com:465 SSL/TLS	Normal password true

account3 (pop3) pop.gmail.com:995 SSL/TLS Normal password

                     smtp.gmail.com:465 SSL/TLS OAuth2 true

Thanks for the reply.

Since I think that you know what is going on for your own experience, as I delete the acc, I need to save all that I have on it 1st? Or, as I reinstall the same acc all that I had on it will be back - my folders with saved msgs, etc? Thanks jc

Google seems to want you to log into your account at the web mail page to verify your account. Have you done that?

Post your Thunderbird troubleshooting info.

Go to Help-Troubleshooting Information-Copy to Clipboard Make sure the box to show account names is NOT checked. Come back here and paste that info into a reply window.

If you’re sure your password is right, try these tips:
  1. If you've turned on 2-Step Verification for your account, you might need to enter an App password instead of your regular password.
  2. Sign in to your account from the web version of Gmail at https://mail.google.com. Once you’re signed in, try signing in to the mail app again.
  3. Visit http://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha and sign in with your Gmail username and password. If asked, enter the letters in the distorted picture.
  4. Your app might not support the latest security standards. Try changing a few settings to allow less secure apps access to your account.
  5. Make sure your mail app isn't set to check for new email too often. If your mail app checks for new messages more than once every 10 minutes, the app’s access to your account could be blocked.
  6. Change your password according to our tips on creating a strong password.

Have you completed all 6 of those troubleshooting steps? what results for each?

I have 45.1.1 version and made a Password Reset but can't log in. Sending of password for user mestrejeronimo@gmail.com did not succeed. Web login required: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/78754 Yet, I can use the other acc that I have. Can anyone give a hand to solve this problem. Thanks Mjc

I'm glad the problem is fixed. Just for completeness: Gmail considers Tbird to be a "less secure app" which requires permission to connect be given in the Google account settings. see https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255?hl=en

Connection from "less secure apps" is enabled by default, but security conscious people reviewing the Google settings may turn it off and inadvertently lock out Tbird.

I already did it, tks -- and this is my problem as I try to receive my mail using the ThunB mails system with this acc, as the other acc including a new new that I just created as a test works and has no issues sending me this : << Sending of password for user mestrejeronimo@gmail.com did not succeed. Mail server pop.googlemail.com responded: Web login required: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/78754 >>>

So, I am still in the same problem as I did request help to resolve with this acc. I have been reissued a new password, I tried to change settings, etc... and so far can't have it to connect with the server. I am able to send e-mails... so, I guess that what I need is related to something receiving only... but what ???????

Thanks for all your support trying to educate me and help me fix this problem.

I hope that I may find a solution soon

Um ... the Gmail POP server is "pop.gmail.com".

I'm not aware that there even is a separate GoogleMail server. AFAIK, GoogleMail.com addresses are just aliases of Gmail.com addresses.
