How do I send an auto response to incoming mail that I have a new gmail address?
I don't want to send a mass email to everyone in my address book and I don't want to auto forward these emails to my new gmail account. I want to set an auto respond in Thunderbird that tells them to email me at my new gmail address.

I would suggest you use the facilities gmail provider to collect your old mail into your new account. I would not resend a mail after I got such a notice. I would assume if you replied that you got it. I don't think I am that different in my attitudes.
