Hi, First, I'd like to apologize for the lengthy explanation, but it is a bit complicated.

I recently changed to a new reseller host and the tech at the new host moved my accounts over in the normal server to server FTP transfer. When it was done I was given the go ahead to change my registered custom nameserver IP addresses over to the new host's IP addresses. However, we didn't realize that the GLUE records for my custom nameservers became corrupted during the transfer which resulted in some old DNS records being kept along with the newer ones. This DNS mixup caused emails in some accounts to route either to the old server or to the new server depending on source or time of day during a 4 day period while we tried to troubleshoot the problem. Once the tech corrected the issue, all emails routed correctly to the new server only. During this 4 day mixup, Thunderbird would download only from the old server, but once the fix was implemented, it switched to downloading only from the new server.

So, my problem is with my primary email account set to POP: Now that Thunderbird is pointing to the new server, it will not download the messages that arrived to the new server during this 4 day mixup, BUT, It is downloading all messages that have arrived right after the tech corrected the DNS errors at the end of the 4 day mixup. So, I have 24 messages clearly visible via my Roundcube webmail that are definitely there on the server that will not download. Messages that arrived before and after this mixup have all downloaded without a problem.

Can anyone advise on how to convince Thunderbird to recognize and download these now orphaned messages? I know there must be a flag somewhere that needs to be tripped and I'm willing to try any sort of hack if necessary.

Thanks much.

set up your account again and specify the iP address of the server you need to connect to as the server name. (Your tech should be able to help you with the relevant IP addresses.) This will only work if the IP address of the old and new server are different.

Specifying the ip address side steps DNS, but if your old and new server use the same IP address in DNS, I suggest you consult with your techas to what can be done with regards to data recovery.
