Looking for items to purchase on Kijiji and I click on a certain add it opens up that add with more detail. If I am not interested and close the add Fire Fox doesn't take me back to where I was on that page. It puts me at the beginning of that page and you have to scroll down the page to where you were and then keep looking for what you want.

There are a couple possible reasons for Firefox not to go back to he correct vertical position, including:

(1) Firefox didn't cache the main page, and reloaded it fresh from the server

This can occur when sites instruct Firefox not to cache the page because they want you to always see the freshest data. It also could occur if memory is so full that Firefox doesn't cache everything it is supposed to.

If we assume this is how the server wants it -- you could compare Microsoft Edge to see whether the same thing happens there -- the best workaround is to open listings in a new tab. For example, using one of these methods:

  • right-click > Open Link in New Tab
  • middle-click the link with the mouse scroll wheel
  • hold down the Ctrl key when clicking the link

After you close the new tab, Firefox should switch back to the main list.

(2) Firefox may be restoring your location on the page too soon

Some pages contain images or embedded sections that load after the rest of the page content is displayed. Firefox may jump to the saved location but it's wrong because the embedded content hasn't loaded yet.

Usually, this leads to Firefox showing the bottom of the page, not the top, so I think #1 is more likely in your situation.

With Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome they take you back to where you were on the page before you clicked on the add. Holding the Ctrl and clicking the link works fine by opening a new tab and when I close the tab I am back to where I want to be.

Thanks.
