I've been using Firefox credit card autofill since it was introduced, with no problem. Recently when I tried to fill in a form with my credit card information stored in Firefox, I get the message in a popup box entitled Windows Security- "Firefox is trying to use stored credit card information. Confirm access to this Windows account below."

Why is this happening? Can I disable this in Windows Security or in Firefox?

This feature is new as of Firefox 76. See Secure Firefox passwords with device sign-in.

If you don't have a Master Password set, the Firefox Lockwise system will ask you to log into your Windows account. The intention is to prevent people who are sharing your device from being able to easily see your passwords.

Currently, the only two ways to disable this on Windows (that I know of), is to either remove your Windows password or setup a Master Password for Firefox.

Hope this helps.

This doesn't look like a Lockwise alert to me, but more about using form fill to enter stored credit card data although you get the same Windows Hello alert (useCreditCardPasswordPrompt).

You are using an unsupported configuration of Firefox as credit card autofill isn't something we are currently shipping by default to any users.
