Secure Connection Failed - SSL_ERROR_HANDSHAKE_UNEXPECTED_ALERT
I am repeatedly getting the SECURE CONNECTION FAILED error only for Google-related sites like Youtube, Gmail and Google search. I've to then close Firefox and immediately open it again to see those sites again.
This is the Error: Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to www.google.com. SSL peer was not expecting a handshake message it received. Error code: SSL_ERROR_HANDSHAKE_UNEXPECTED_ALERT
&
"Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to www.youtube.com. PR_CONNECT_ABORTED_ERROR"
FYKI, the problem started occurring in November, 2021. It had never happened before. I repeat, this error is occuring only for Google-related sites, not for others.
What could be the problem? Please help!

Web search: https://www.bing.com/search?q=PR_CONNECT_ABORTED_ERROR https://appuals.com/pr-connect-reset-error/ The PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR issue is encountered when the user tries to use Mozilla Firefox to connect to a website server with the HTTPS protocol but the request gets denied. This error message essentially means that the peer or some middlebox in between (most likely a firewall) is terminating the connection forcibly.
Do you want to FIX the cert or Bypass the Secure Connection Failed? Started occurring in November, 2021... When did the cert expire for the Goggle domain is my suspicion? Or a man-in-the-middle issue. Can you check cert valid dates as a sanity test?
- Go to google.com
- Click on lock left of the input line
- Click on Connection secure
- Click on More Information
- Under security tab click View Certificate
Hello 4 Quige,
I clicked on the Lock->Connection secure and it showed “Verified by:Google Trust Services LLC”. And then inside the Certificate page I came across this –
Validity Not Before - Mon, 28 Mar 2022 01:19:44 GMT Not After - Mon, 20 Jun 2022 01:19:43 GMT
What is this supposed to mean?
A certificate is only good for so long. After, the website needs to get a new certificate.
