Thunderbird would once in a great while ask me to compact folders when deleting messages. Now it's trying to compact folders every time I delete a message the first time I open thunderbird and then periodically throughout the day. I am using Thunderbird 102.2.0 (64-bit) and have compacting set to "Compact all folders when it would save over 200mb". I have turned this off which has solved the problem but I am not sure of the long term implications and in any case, would like to try and fix it. Thank you!

There have been bugs in how compact works with V102. For some account types it didn't. This is why you have been getting regular prompts. give it a month and a fix version should be released to your desktop.
