There does not seem to be a way to manage calendar subscriptions for CalDAV accounts (unlike folder subscriptions for IMAP mailboxes - see sample image).

Unsubscribing individual calendars is easy enough but it does not seem possible change/add new subscriptions without going through the setup wizard over & again (even with the password manager set to remember credentials).

I am failing to understand I think.

I look at the list of calendars on my install and right clicking them shows an unsubscribe entry on the menu and a properties, where I can modify the link location for caldav calendars is the URL has changed.

What else is there to subscribe to?

Adding a calendar is adding a new calendar, it is not some sort of subscription to another calendar at say google com. They are not grouped, stored or clustered in any way by remote URL and File >new > calendar offers a simple wizard to add a new calendar. When I enter my credentials for gmail (as my choice of provider) I am presented with this list of calendars I can "subscribe" to

The link you point to was last edited in 2010 to add something about Thunderbird's File menu integration. Prior to that it was 2006. So it would have been written in the era of the Mozilla calendar project and the application Sunbird. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Sunbird

I just have not been around that long to be able to comment. You are welcome to offer feedback on the calendar implementation on the feedback forum (the same link is on the Thunderbird help menu .)

"...What else is there to subscribe to?..." Quite a bit as it happens. There are frequent occasions when calendars are added or removed on the server side.

Even so, use of terms such as "subscribe", "add", "create" etc. is perhaps moot, but at any rate there needs to be provision for clients to maintain / follow server side changes with a minimum of fuss, which unfortunately does not appear to be so (hence the question).

Indeed the Provider add-on for Google can cope as such (albeit when invoking the wizard) and it's a shame that Lightning doesn't follow suit. Again, unless we're missing something, it does seem odd that the endpoint & credentials have to be re-entered over & again despite already being saved in the Password Manager; especially when contrast against the previous capabilities of Sunbird/Mozilla Calendar.
