Firefox will not let me bookmark anything. Bookmarks don't show in "organize bookmarks."
In the last few months Firefox will not bookmark anything. I click "bookmark this page" but nothing happens and the page does not show up in my bookmarks window. There are also a lot of bookmarks not in folders that do not show up when I click "organize bookmarks" so I can't move them to folders or delete them. But they do show up on my bookmarks list when I click "Bookmarks" in the menu. I'm on a Mac, OS 10.4.11 and simply let Firefox update itself whenever it wants. Seems some of the latest updates have rendered my bookmarks ability null.

This can be caused by a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
Well, I followed the instructions in the second link ... now I have no bookmarks at all. And Firefox is unable to process my request to restore my bookmarks from the desktop backup file I created. Any other suggestions? I really need my bookmarks.
