I just reinstalled Firefox on my Mac. Now whenever I open the program the download .dmg file pops up on my desktop and the dialog box where I needed to drag the firefox icon into my Applications folder pops up as well. Firefox starts and works fine, but it is annoying to have these two other things pop up on my desktop as well. What do I do to get rid of these things?

Make sure that Firefox gets installed properly.

Open the Firefox disk image (DMG) file and drag the Firefox program to the application folder on your hard drive.
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.

Check that you haven't set the home page to a website that starts the download automatically.

You can also check the Download Manager window for unfinished downloads.

My homepage is Google. The boxes from Firefox (install disc icon and dialog box) pop up even before Firefox has fully opened.

All downloads are complete.

Thanks, I did what you suggested, but then I figured out that this problem was happening only when I opened Firefox from the icon in my dock. So I deleted that and created a new one by dragging the icon from Applications folder to the dock. Problem solved! Thanks for your suggestions!
