Firefox 16.0.2 - bookmark all tabs does not save the name of the link just the url. export bookmarks to html;open export file; no links. Workaround? Fix?
"bookmark all tabs" does not save the name of the link when you create an html file using "export to html",
there is no link to copy so the bookmark is not exported.
you have to bookmark each link to save the link properly. seems like a feature which is intended to save work, but creates work. limited value. could be a lot nicer if the code for the individual save is used
Is there a workaround?

I just tried that and I am not seeing that behaviour, and I am using Firefox 16.0.2. Maybe that is a Windows thing? I am using Mac OS. Did you install any extensions that do anything to bookmarks?
WIndows 7,64 bits OS - Firefox Version 16.0.2 Launch browser - open some sites in different tabs - bookmark them from the 'Bookmark' tool bar - export the bookmarks in HTML
Result - successful! There weren't any problem in exporting bookmarks. Try doing it like this and report if problem exist mention the OS that you use to analyze again. Thankyou!
Thanks for the posts.
OS is MS Windows Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.120821-1629 : Service Pack 3) otherwise known as Window XP Professional Did not install any bookmark plug ins or any extensions that I am aware of. If Mac OS and Windows 7 are working, i.e, you can see the "save all tabs" links in the html file, it may be an XP issue. Then, the most likely solution will be to upgrade to Windows 7, which is scheduled.
Just to confirm what is being said, I am able to save all bookmarks, but the bookmarks are raw http addresses(like http://www.google.com) without the site name, a text string(like Google), which appears on the tab, usually with a site icon. For a link to show up in the html export file, it needs the address and the name. The link name shows up in: <A href="link address goes here">link name goes here</A> I'm getting an empty "link name goes here" in the html file so nothing shows up when I open the export file in the browser. Just checking to make sure we're on the same page. quirky huh.
I double checked with the issue. It is definitely a problem with your OS and not with the server. I did not see any links navigating to different web pages with a blank page, not responding. I never had an issue like that whenever I launch Firefox browser in my Windows 7, OS. (couple of times verified)
Please upgrade your OS! Thanks for double-check,
Arthi Ganges.
I have been having the same issue and I just figured out the problem has to do with browser history settings. Apparently the bookmark all tabs functions draws the names of the sites from your browser history, so if you set Firefox to "Never remember history" (as in my case) or run it in private browsing mode, it won't be able to locate and save the names of the sites.
If that is the way you set up your Firefox, turning browsing history back on would allow you to bookmark all tabs properly. I have verified the workaround on Mac OS and Windows 7 64bit, both running Firefox 18.0.1.
It would be much appreciated if anyone could help to report this issue to the Firefox development team since I have no idea how to do so. Thank you.
