Yahoo mail opens - inbox is displayed with messages itemized as normal. When I click on a message, the screen goes to the background - no message is displayed. Has worked fine until this afternoon. Using Yahoo mail. Works fine in internet explorer. Clicking on the gear in the upper right returns screen to list of inbox emails. Compose does not work. Other websites seem to work normally using firefox. Tried uninstall and reinstall with no success. Operating system - XP.

Hi cocoon, here's another way to get to the Page Info dialog:

In the address bar, click the padlock or globe icon, then click the More Information button.

Multi-browser problems can indicate that some security, privacy, or utility software on your computer is changing how your browsers connect to a site, or filtering out some of what your browser normally sends to the site, or is filtering out some of what the site is sending you. You might see similar issues if you use a proxy server, private VPN service, or anonymizing service such as TOR. I know that's a broad list of possibilities, but it's useful to think about all those potential causes.

You might start with any software that filters your web traffic, either to strip out security threats or annoyances such as advertising. Could you try turning off the filtering temporarily? If you mention your brand of security or parent control software, a volunteer might be able to give more specific steps.

Before diving into troubleshooting, I wanted to mention the following: Many users have discovered all kind of problems and glitches with Yahoo! mail in Firefox when using an old bookmark or old home page URL saved before Yahoo!'s recent server changes.

If you are accessing your mail either of those ways, I suggest clearing your Yahoo cookies and entering through the main page to get a better address for your current mail server.

To remove your Yahoo cookies -- save any pending work first -- call up the Cookies dialog while viewing any page on yahoo.com (or your Yahoo site). You can use either:

  • right-click the page > View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then go to one of these Yahoo addresses and click on login or mail from there:

Does that help?

You can save the new address if it works, replacing your old bookmark or home page, as applicable.

Unable remove Yahoo cookies by either method suggested. Don't find "view page info" or "page info". Just loaded Google Chrome. I get the same Yahoo mail page as with Firefox. Still unable to see individual emails. Any suggestions? Seems to be a Yahoo problem as it persists on both Firefox and Google Chrome.

Hi Aikoo, because the original poster marked this thread as solved, you might not get very much help here. It would be better to start a new question.

You can start a new question using this link:

As you come to article suggestions, assuming they are not specific, scroll down past them to continue with the new question process.

Thanks.
