YouTube videos usually play through Flash Player, which means you need to adjust the volume for "Adobe Flash Player" in the Windows volume mixer.

Also check the volume level in the bottom left corner of the videos themselves.

would need to know HOW to adjust volume for adobe flash player...

All media players that are used on web pages usually have their own volume control, possibly hidden under a speaker icon. So the first is always to check that volume setting.

The second is to check the volume setting in the OS and for the current Program by opening the Volume Mixer via the icon on the Windows Taskbar.

Well I DID all of that before I posted. I was in hopes that someone would have a suggestion other than the obvious places to check...

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Try to clear the Flash local storage and settings for YouTube.

  • Windows Control Panel > Flash Player > Storage: Local Storage Settings
    • Remove a specific domain: Local Storage Settings by site
    • Remove all domains: Delete All and Delete Data

Flash Website Storage Settings panel:

have the same issue, followed all the steps above, and still very low volume even when set at highest setting.... don't know if it is a Firefox issue... or an ASUS laptop issue, as I am sorry I was ever talked in to purchasing this inferior product.... as you can tell, after years of having increasing satisfaction, the latest programs and laptops are DE-volving in my experience.
