I use the addon Hugo, which allows me to search any amount of HTML tabs in one go. The Adobe advanced search functionality does not help me, because it does not have a usable context preview as Hugo does and it does not allow to search HTML and PDF at the same time - which is the objective of my efforts. Unfortunately, the Firefox search function does not work with Adobe PDF viewer, as with any other PDF viewer - I know the FF PDF js can be searched with the FF search function, but the FF PDF js viewer is simply not good enough because of very poor rendering - it would be wonderful if this would change to the better!!!

Now, there must be a way to close the gap - handshake - between the FF search function and the search function within the PDF viewer - each desktop search tool and each Internet search engine can search and index PDFs - it is toooo bad that the FF search function has not implemented this functionality - any ideas??? GreaseMonkey script or any other script???

Any help is very much appreciated.

Hi Hugo, I asked the pdf.js irc channel about this one: > "if there are a addon to do that for HTML, then it's possible to extends it to use PDF.js functionality too" since pdf.js has its own functionality, it might not extend to html like you wish. however you may be able to find an add on that does this:

Hi guig2, thank you for your reply. I just checked if there is still no reply to my question I posted 17 days ago. If PDF.js would be usable as a PDF viewer all would be good - but as it is now, PDF.js is not an option.

My objective is to search text in 20, 50 or more PDFs in one go -one query and the text is searched in all PDFs - I can do this with the addon Hugo in HTML files, but unfortunately the FF search function cannot search text in PDFs. It would be wonderful if just ONE developer would understand that the development of a FF search interface to a PDF viewer would be a great idea. But I'm afraid this will not happen.
