bookmarks listed under Menu but there's a category "unsorted bookmarks" which collects any new marks but I don't want that category -- just to list with the rest under menu. Also I want only the marks I specify. It seems that some marks are entered automatically?

You can delete the Unsorted Bookmarks folder, but if you use the "Star" to save a new bookmark and only click once on that "star" (instead of twice) the new bookmark won't be "found" with that folder missing from the UI. At least that's what happened to me when I tried deleting the Unsorted Bookmarks folder to see what would happen. If you would use {Ctrl + D} to save bookmarks or "drag'n'drop" to save new bookmarks, the deletion of the Unsorted Bookmarks shouldn't pose a problem, IMO.

As far "automatically entered" bookmarks - please explain that or provide some URLs as an example.

If you click the star on the location/address bar then you bookmark the current tab to the unsorted folder and the star gets a blue highlight.

If you use Ctrl+D or "Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page" then you create the bookmark in the Bookmarks Menu folder.
