Presently I am using Microsoft Outlook 2016 as my email client. All the PST files and address book are stored in my computer. I want migrate to Thunderbird. But I am unable to import mails and contacts from Outlook. When I click on Import and selecting the Outlook, it is doing nothing.

Please advise how to import mails and contacts.

Thunderbird has no knowledge of .pst files as they are Microsoft specific.

I'm assuming you are trying to import into 'Local Folders' mail account or you have created new existing mail accounts.

Options. 1. Install a very old version of Thunderbird and then use the import option. Suggest you try version 24.

2. Export outlook emails as .eml files and then use 'ImportExportTools' addon extension to import the .eml files.

3. Use a converter to convert .pst files into mbox files. Then use 'ImportExportTools' addon extension to import the mbox files.

ImportExportTools addon extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/ There is a note on that page showing a link to get the most up to date version.

You can a download of an older version eg: 24 here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/24.0/ If using Windows OS then clickon 'win32' select language of chose eg: en-GB = English British then download the setup file.

If you choose to try the old version of Thunderbird, you can update afterwards to a more recent version.
