How can I export, edit, and re-import all of my saved passwords?

I used to use the Password Exporter extension for this, but it is no longer compatible with the newer versions of Firefox. As I understand it, there are not currently any password APIs available in Firefox.

Here's what I need to do:

About every 2 months, I have to change my password on my work computer. We have a dozen or so internal intranet domains that require authentication (usually handled automatically by Active Directory in other browsers, but Firefox doesn't seem to support that, because it always asks me for a username and password). When I change my password in Active Directory, I need to also update all of my saved password instances. In the past, I did this by using Password Exporter to export all of my passwords to an XML file, then a text editor to global search/replace and change all of the passwords to my new one, and then finally delete all of my passwords in Firefox and re-import the XML file.

With Password Exporter being unsupported, I need to update each of these passwords individually, either in Firefox's password manager, or when I visit each site and get an error because the old password doesn't work.

Is there a way to accomplish a mass update of many passwords saved in Firefox, either within Firefox or with some external tool? I have seen a few export tools that can decrypt and export passwords saved in your profile, but I haven't found any that will allow you to change them and then update them back into your profile - they seem to be one-way only.

There used to be add-ons that did this, but they don't work for the current Firefox, but new ones may have been made.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for what you want.

Yes, I've searched the Add-Ons page quite extensively before asking the question. Add-Ons are currently incapable of doing what I need, due to the lack of any password APIs in Firefox's new API. Indeed, the developer of Password Exporter is ready to update his add-on if Mozilla makes the required APIs available.

As for Nirsoft's PasswordFox, I've looked into that already as well, but it can't do what I need. It can only export, not edit and re-import. Some other tool like this but with the additional functionality I need would be useful.

I agree. I am using Firefox 54 and have no wish to update because it would cost me my add-ons.

Yep. I'm on v56 at home. It auto-updated when 57 came out, and immediately several add-ons I really rely on stopped working, with no replacements available. So I rolled back and haven't updated since. I won't, until everything I need is available - which, based on what I've been reading, could be quite some time. I was reading an issue in the Mozilla developer board indicating that they talked about the missing password APIs over a year ago, and by the end of the thread a year had gone by and no one was working on the issue. It doesn't seem like they think it's very important.
