I get large numbers of spam email from this account. Have tried blocking it but, although it seems to work for other email, it doesn't stop this one. Have sent email and asked to be removed from their address list - didn't work. Does Firefox own this address and is keeping me from blocking it?

Not a FF End user forum to help with your Spam mail. That is between you and your email provider to resolve. And sending them email helps them send you more - you fallen for the oldest trap they send fake email and you responded and now your email is a "Gold mine" for them.

Since Firefox is not a Email program what are you getting the spam in ?

No idea who, they are but replying to their email in any form confirms the email address is active and causes more spam as does show images if they are online. You can lookup their whois info here : https://ca.godaddy.com/whois?domain=rootlevelmedia.com

You can use this site provided your program/ISP gets the full raw headers https://www.spamcop.net/ register for a free account, if want to buy, 10bucks will go for a few years. The also have free block lists if your program uses block lists.

Without knowing what you are using for email, can not help further. If you are using Thunderbird you should be posting here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/thunderbird

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
