My password for Firefox. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and it still continues to request my password but does not accept it. Its not a problem of a wrong password because the password works on another computer

The same article has a link to another article about resetting the password if it is forgotten. However, it also warns the user that utilizing this feature will result in the loss of all the data it's protecting (that's a security feature and happening by design because you wouldn't want someone to be able to reset your password and access all of your protected information).

When you say that "Its not a problem of a wrong password because the password works on another computer" - I'm not entirely certain that this feature is portable across different computers. The moderator cor-el asked whether you could be referring to Firefox Sync, in which case your tabs and addons could have been ported over to your new installation of Firefox. I would suggest that you utilize Firefox Sync going forward if you would like your entire experience to be portable between different installations of Firefox.

However, it does sound like you had Firefox on a previous computer, and you're now using a new computer and have installed Firefox on the new computer as well. The Master Password feature is only securing the data on your old computer. If you want your stored login information to be portable, I think you need to use the Firefox Lockwise product.

If you still have access to the old computer, you should try to port all of your stored login information to Firefox Lockwise, then set up Firefox Lockwise on the new computer and the stored login information should be ported to your new installation.

I have Firefox on both computers and I have the sync function. The point is both computers ask for a master password. The newly installed Firefox would not be asking for a master password if it were not synced. The password it requests on the new computer is the master password not the sync password, which is different. Both passwords work on the old computer and therefore should work on the new one.

To make the master password work to access logins you need matching logins.json and key4.db files. Note that older Firefox version have used key3.db for the key file, but current releases use key4.db.
