Can someone explain to me why the Private Browsing Mode does not delete your browsing history when Firefox closes? I have used Private Browsing Mode and every time that I close and reopen Firefox then my browsing history shows in the History Menu. Why is that? Everything is check marked in the Clear All History Menu and Everything is selected from the Drop Down Menu. So what is wrong or what am I doing wrong?

In Private Browsing, all data is saved to temporary folders. When the browser is closed, the folder is removed.

If you still see history on the next start then this is likely history from a regular session, possibly a leftover. This history can only be removed if you start Firefox in regular (non PB mode). Once you have removed the history, you can enable PB mode once again.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"
