Just updated to FF 89.0 HATE THE TABS
I can barely see the new tabs. I would like to revert back to FF.88.0.1 How do I do that?

Hi kathyjoe5, old versions of Firefox are always available, but not recommended. There's more info in this article: Install an older version of Firefox.
Would it help to get a dark background on the tabs bar? Some users have created add-on themes to restore the old Windows 10 color scheme. I don't know whether there is any way to restore the old Windows 7 color scheme. You can take a look here as an example:
Jscher: Thank you for your response. I really don't want to fool around w/other programs you made reference to. I don't know why FF won't just leave the tabs and the bars alone. They work fine as they are. And no, I don't want a darker theme. I want my setup the way it is. These tabs go across the top of the page as one big tab. I'm so angry right now, because I don't have time to fool with this and they don't even give us an option to change the tabs to our preference. Is there someone at FF I can contact directly? I can't even screenshot that part of the screen to show them what this looks like.
I remember they did this once before and someone put out an add on to allow us to change it to our preference, but I can't find the reference. Sorry to be venting at you, but people who make these decisions w/o giving options just aggravate me.
If you have any other solutions, I would appreciate hearing them and I'm sure others will be jumping on this bandwagon also. Thanks again.
Hi kathyjoe5, I understand the problem of lack of tab separation. I don't know whether a theme can fix that, or whether some other fooling around might be required.
As a temporary tactic to buy time, you can use a preference to revert the tab bar to its older appearance. This is just for Firefox 89, so you have a month to keep an eye out for the next workaround. To set that up:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.proton.enabled and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the preference to switch between true (new Proton style) and false (old Photon style)
Since this was kept in just for testing, there might be some occasional glitches.
Thank you for those instructions, but all that did was change the tabs from one long bluish- white tab with white letters to one long black tab with white letters. There is absolutely no distinction between tabs; I just don't get what the people who write these programs are thinking or if they even test what their doing before issuing these changes. Again, sorry for venting at you, and I appreciate your help.
I'm going to put one big cry for help out there to see if someone else can offer a solution to this issue. I see they also moved the tabs above the search bar also....just what is the reason for that. It was fine where it was. UGGGGGH!!!!!! Just leave stuff where it is!
As you can probably tell, I don't deal well with change...lol.
Thanks again.
Sorry, this doesn't help you, but in my defense, it works on Windows 10:
Were you previously using rules in a userChrome.css file to move your tabs below the address bar? Those rules probably need an update for Firefox 89. There is a thread on Reddit about that at the moment:
https://www.reddit.com/r/FirefoxCSS/comments/nq2d0q/tabs_on_bottom_for_firefox_89/
And as long as you are familiar with userChrome.css, the possibilities are limitless.
Ok. That's what I got and I thought that's what I described.......one long black tab bar, but no separations, with the names of the websites visible . I tried to upload a picture as a pdf and a jpeg, but I keep getting an error msg, can't even copy and paste. But that's exactly what I got, except the tab I'm on has a white "wing" sticking out and the name of the website doesn't show where your bar shows that you're on the Mozilla Tab. Hard to describe, or visualize, but anyway, thanks again.
I'm not familiar with user chrome.css files, but I guess I'll have to familiarize myself, since FF doesn't provide options.
Thanks again!
I fear that some people are able to see tiny gray fonts against a lighter gray background surrounded by a somewhat darker gray top bar-- and those of us who need larger fonts, bolder font choices, and an ability to go to the top and READ IT are being ignored because they just do not "see" see how this new nightmare top section affects a lot of us.
Keep up the fight-- I spent over a half hour just to get to this thread!

Hi colcam, if you make the change mentioned earlier in this thread, does it help make your toolbar area more readable? The change is this one:
