firefox does not detect the latest flash player although it is installed

i have installed the latest version of adobe flash player but firefox does not pick it up. i can not play videos on youtube. i have installed adobe flash player 10 a number of times but it still detects it as version 7, however internet explorer works fine. i have uninstalled, downloaded a new copy and reinstalled firefox and still nothing i have uninstalled, downloaded a new copy and reinstalled firefox and still nothing.

You have 2 Flash players installed. One very old version (7.0 r19) and the current version (10.0 r45).

Un-install the old version from Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and see if that resolves your situation.

If that does not correct your problem, this tool from Adobe will un-install ALL instances of Adobe Flash from your system, including the IE ActiveX version. You will then need to reinstall the current version plug-in for Firefox and the ActiveX version for IE: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html


Other Issues: to correct security/stability issues
