My bookmarks are missing from the bookmark menu and the restore doesn't work. Any ideas?

My bookmarks in the toolbar are still present; however, all bookmarks that I had saved under the pull down menu and had sorted into folders are missing. I tried restoring from a previous backup, but when I tried this (using multiple dates) I get a message saying "Unable to process the backup file". Any suggestions on what I can do to get them back?

Thanks, Shannon

Thanks for your reply, but I ended up moving the backups to my desktop and completely uninstalling Firefox and then re-installing it anew. Once I did that, Firefox was able to process the bookmark backup file and my bookmarks were back. Your way may have been easier, I just did it the hard way as it was the only way I could figure things out.
