I just uninstalled FireFox RC 2 and removed the data completely because I knew that I had sync and I can always get it back. But I can't seem to login so I tried to reset my password but I never get an email.

"We have emailed a reset code to the email address we have on file for you. Please use it within the next 6 hours, or it will become invalid."

But I didn't receive any messages! please help me :'(

Hi from Mozilla Services Operations. Thank you for reporting this issue!

We have fixed the password reset emails, and verified that the process is working as expected for users who are trying to reset their password since the fix.

Please try resetting your password, you should receive the email from our service within a couple minutes.

Thanks,

Richard Soderberg Mozilla Services Operations

This is happening again. Is something wrong with the email servers?

I have the exact same issue, with one difference. After entering the email, it says unable to locate your account please request a new key. Where do I request a new key? Why do I need a new key if I already have one?

joaofds -- Firefox Sync has been down all day now (at least it's in my case, couldn't sync successfully). Did your problem just happen today or happened before today?

Only today, I just created a new account 5 days ago and I am using it for the first time today, after formatting my pc.

In this case, you might want to wait and see. As of now, my Firefox Sync still couldn't sync successfully. I suspect there's something wrong with their system. Other users in this forum might want to post and let us know if their Sync is working or not today. There's no way of telling if this is an isolated case or a system-wide problem until other users post their inputs.

More than 1 week later and still nothing, fortunately I still have a febes backup, so all i have to do is reinstall firefox 3.6 and install febes, sync it from ther and then re-upgrade to firefox 4

joaofds -- I would suggest you to delete your old account (since nothing has been synced yet, so you won't lose any datas) and create a new one. Firefox Sync has been back up for a few days now. If you create a new account, it should work for you. And do not forget to write down all the log-in information, especially the Sync key for future reference.

Well, my take on this is that you should never trust your data to anyone, Firefox or otherwise.

It is much safer to keep things in your own hands.

Sure, online backup facilities and sync facilities are great, but are you sure they are safe and are you sure they will keep working - in this case there seems to be just a bit of a problem.

I don't trust anyone I don't know. I may miss out on some things but I always know where my data (and passwords, etc.) are.

I've been in Data Processing for 37+ years - last position was Sr. Systems Programmer (and Manager of Systems) for the 2nd largest bank company in the state. I've worked with lots of programmers and my general stance is that I don't trust programmers - I've seen far too many stupid things done - and had to help them fix things in the wee hours of the morning too many times - to think that all programmers are competent.

Better safe than sorry.

Not receiving emails today. Still a problem.

Sorry about that -- the more recent issues were actually a completely different issue (on our servers) than the original post.

Regardless, we have fixed it now, and will be implementing new monitoring on our servers to watch for this failure scenario, too.

Thanks for letting us know, though.

I have this too - I tried it several times yesterday and again just now - the password reminder e-mail never arrives - whereas the forum registration confirmation e-mail to the same address arrived OK in my live.com account for <myusername>@mymts.net just now.

Local time is Thursday, June 9, 2011 11:38:49 AM CDT, so any errors in your server log should be just a few minutes ahead of that, and the IP address I m surfing from is (was) 216.81.16.172, up 2 days and 57 mins or so.

Firefox is 3.6.17 on OSX PPC 10.4.11.

Have a nice day,
