In the upper right corner of Firefox 4.0, on my netbook (screen resolution 1024x600), there are multiple instances of the close, maximize, and minimize buttons. Everytime a new tab is opened, another replicate appears. It's very messy.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

In Firefox 4 Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

I tried the above suggestion, and it did not work. However, I figured out what was causing the problem. Windows 7 Starter does not allow users to modify the theme, so I was using Stardock colors to modify the theme and it was interfering with Firefox 4.0 when the Menu Bar was not present. See pics of problem below. Any suggestions on how to run the two programs at the same time compatibly would be great. Thanks.
