This morning Firefox started crashing on startup. Tried reboot and still not working. Was fine yesterday. I open about 6 tabs (mostly to internal sites) and have been for months (years?). Cannot start in safe mode either so basically I can't use Firefox anymore until I get a solution.

I suspect this relates to McAfee software, ensure that is up-to-date,and consider trying disabling it or if that fails try temporarily uninstalling it. (Maybe test whilst physically offline, in order to remove risk of using the internet without security software)

Your report for CrashID [1104c77d-6c93-4733-bf64-848f92120329]

  • Signature: rand_s
  • related bug: Bug 723447 - Crash in ChildProcessInfo::GenerateRandomChannelID @ rand_s with McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention

I have seen a few threads with this signature, but not one where anyone has got back after it being suggested McAfee software be uninstalled as a trial, possibly such computers are being used in a corporate environment.

This is a hard one since it's a startup crash. From looking at the crash report, the first thing I suspect is a problem/conflict with McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention. I'm not familiar with that particular product but maybe you can see if there is a way to disable it. Then see if Firefox will start.
