Let me first state that I AM NOT having the "Firefox is already running but not responding" issue. This is my problem:

I exit Firefox, and no matter what, every single time I open it, it opens the last tabs I had open. I've tried to kill the process in task manager but it doesn't show up in the processes list. I've tried Firefox > Exit, creating a new profile, restarting my computer (yes, even restarting my computer doesn't get rid of my previously open tabs!), running the places maintenance addon, and resetting Firefox. None of these things have helped. I have searched extensively on these forums, Google, and Reddit, to no avail. Can someone PLEASE help me?

You can check if you have an user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
