First, THANK YOU for responding so quickly!! I would like to know *why* this happened. I do not wish to upgrade, as I don't like the new look. And, yes, I know about the Classic Theme Restorer add-on (app?) and have it on my computer. I am not sure why this happened in the first place. I wasn't changing anything, just going about the usual surfing. I would reset, but I am concerned that I will lose all my Password Manager saved passwords. I backed them up a short while ago by making screen captures of the list, but haven't updated it in a while (*facepalm*) and, other than asking each site to send a password reminder ( and saving them in an email, which I have done for many but not all ) I am not able to instantly recall to memory every one. If I Reset Firefox to "factory default state while saving essential information like bookmarks and open tabs" will things like Colorful Tabs install again without difficulty? Is the latest version of Firefox going to let me revert with the Theme Restorer? Sorry to have so many questions. Again, thank you for suggesting the upgrade.

An upgrade will let your use classic theme restorer to make it look like the old version (How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox)

I'd try the update first before a reset, but yes, so long as you are using Firefox's password manager then your passwords will be saved (Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings)

Ok, updated Firefox and restarted. Still no option drop down. Next I am going to try the "safe mode" restart.

Other than going tab-by-tab and, using copy/paste, is there a way to capture the url for all the tabs currently open?

Hmm, there never was a triangle next to Options on the classic Tools menu. Are you thinking of the Firefox 4-28 Firefox (orange button) menu, a more compact menu that did have the triangle? Please see the screenshot at the link:

I am not aware of a built-in way to capture a list of the URLs of all the open tabs. Firefox does store this information in your session history file, and you can use scripts to extract the information in that file, but the process is a bit involved.

If you can find an extension that has this feature, that would be easier. But, for possible future reference...

First, I suggest working with a backup copy of the sessionstore.js file rathre than the "live" file. You can make a copy as follows:

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either:

• "3-bar" menu button > "?" icon > Troubleshooting Information
• (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information

In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a window listing all your current settings files.

Scroll down to sessionstore.js, right-click > Copy, then click into your Documents folder, right-click > Paste.

Next, these threads have different suggestions on how to "mine" the sessionstore.js file to extract the URLs:

jscher2000 Hmmm, I am probably confused about the dropdown next to the menu choice. I am, often. I blame a senior moment. LOL When something stops doing what is expected, sometimes the memory of what *was* is lost, too. The problem still occurs when I try to select Options, Firefox freezes. Not crash, freeze. I can use the Task Manager to close, but nothing else works within the FF window, including the close command. Especially troubling as I still have no clear answer why, with no changes what-so-ever, it stopped working as it had. If I had opened a new tab or installed a new add-on or *anything* I would understand. I routinely set a restore point before adding things or running a .exe, but even returning to one set way before this occurred does not fix the problem. I am quite frustrated. I have been working with computers since the early 60s, but sometimes the changes to the OS happen just too fast for me. Thanks for helping. Try to delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.
