System is Ubuntu 15.04. Hardware is Dell Latitude E7240 (64-bit).

Starting from a terminal command "firefox".

On startup I get pop-up saying:

Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.

After clicking "OK", I get this message on the terminal

GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed

And then nothing

Adding -safe-mode gives the same result.

Removing the Ubuntu firefox package and downloading the latest bz2 package from the firefox web site gives the same result.

Trying to automatically add info fails with the same pop-up message above, and no window appears, so the rest of the instructions are useless.

Hi Pete, Sorry you are having problems.

To some extent it may depend on the Distro & Desktop Environment but there should be no need normally to use a CLI why not use the launcher ?

As you have a profile problem try the -P argument.

I get some repetitive warnings but it does launch ok after a few seconds delay

:~$ firefox -P -no-remote
(process:4645): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed
(firefox:4645): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: Attempt to add property GnomeProgram::sm-connect after class was initialised
... {repeats}

Have you ever had Firefox running, and has your profile got any important bookmarks ? Do you get the profile manager appearing ? If so and Firefox is not starting try creating an additional new profile.
