I search for a particular email: Example: MD Anderson The email I am looking for appears with a brief script of the beginning email content. I click on the email to open it and the email disappears and the image below appears.

Some emails open; most others do not. It appears that the information is in my file but the email does not open.

This is what we usually see when the index used to search mail contains mail that is no longer in Thunderbird.

On the toolbar > Help > Troubleshooting Information

Click the show profile button in Troubleshooting Information Close Thunderbird In the file window that opened, delete the file global- messages-db.sqlite Restart Thunderbird.

The search will be rubbish until the file fully regenerates, which could take a whole day if you have 10 or 20Gb of mail. You can monitor the status of that using the Activity Manager.
