How do I get the server working again?
I've turned on 2 factor verification for my apple account/email and I can no longer receive or send emails. I get the message Login to server failed smtp.mail.me.com failed
What do I need to do?

If you set up '2 step verification' because you use a phone as well as the computer to access emails, then you need to generate 'an application specific password' to use in thunderbird instead of your usual mail account password.
You can edit your saved passwords in Thunderbird. 'Menu icon' > Options' > 'Options' > 'Security' > 'Passwords' tab click on 'Saved Passwords' click on 'Show Passwords' right click to select the mailbox or smtp for the mail account select 'Edit Password' type correct password click on 'close' click on 'OK'
