I just downloaded firefox on new laptop, everything works but I can not make bookmarks
I work with Firefox for years and love it. I got a new laptop (acer aspire 7), with windows 10 on it and I downloaded Firefox and installed it. But to my big surprise ,... I am not able to make simple bookmarks when I try!!, I press the star when on a page but it does not turn blue. Nothing happends when I go to the bookmark menu and try to bookmark it. I reinstalled it several times and made sure no old data was left on my laptop. But it doesnt work. I synced with the Firefox settings my older desktop and all the plugins were synchronised but no bookmarks. Then I tried to get the bookmarks manually from the desktop, tried to import them but it gave a failure message. 'Unable to process the backup file'. So what is going on and who can help me ? Hope to hear from you, greetings Robbertjan

Are you using any bookmark add-ons?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.
- use "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

If "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page can't repair the places.sqlite database then remove all places.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
- keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
- Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
