I use Thunderbird on two different computers, my main computer at home, and a laptop I take with me on the road. I mainly use my home computer for all my emails. However I also use Thunderbird on my laptop when I'm on the road. I am looking for a way to be able to synchronize both copies of Thunderbird, one on my laptop and the one I have on my home computer. So what I mean by synchronizing is that whatever happens on one copy of Thunderbird, also happens on my other copy of Thunderbird. The synchronizing process, whatever it might be, does not necessarily have to happen at the same time.

Google IMAP vs POP to learn how they work. IMAP is best when using multiple devices to access email. There are other differences so educate yourself on how the two protocols work and decide what works best for you.
