Since few weeks, sometimes (i don't know what cause it) firefox try to save a file called usync.html from http://eus.rubiconproject.com. By searching on the internet it says that is an advertising company but also, on some website a malicious url. Anyone can help me? How to get rid of it? Thanks

Rubicon Project is an ad site, yes.

Could you describe what you mean about Firefox trying to save a file? Does a window pop up asking you to select a folder to save in?

It's happen something like when you try to save something from the web. A window pop up and it ask if you wanto to open or save the usync.html file on your pc. If you save it, it save a .html file which i don't open in the browser but i opened with notepad++

Attached the screen of the whole usync.html file opened in notepad++

Thanks

That doesn't seem right. What method are you using for saving the page, image, or whatever it is?

When i save a .rar, .zip or whatever else (and i mean that i want to download that file) firefox pop up with something like this

-> https://i.stack.imgur.com/zCDgJ.png

And this happen also with the usync.html, but in this case i didn't do anything (as far as i know) that activate the request of this download, and this is the strange thing about it.

I've just reinstalled firefox a couple of days ago and i delete everything from my HDD, so that's even more strange

Hmm, your screenshot looks like Linux or Mac, but you are using Windows?

That part seems normal. If you want Firefox to always save the file, you could try setting that on the Options/Preferences page.

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

Scroll down to the Files and Applications section. You should find a box that lists different types of files you have downloaded before, and to the right is usually "Always Ask". You can try changing that to "Save File" if you don't want to be asked.

If Firefox doesn't follow instructions, it's possible the download handlers file is damaged, or that the server is not sending the official Content-Type for the file, but more of a generic "it's a binary" type. I can give suggestions for those issues if needed.

Yes i grabbed an image from the web for show you what i mean with popup window. sorry for not explained it ;)

My problem is not about saving files, but understood why firefox ask for it, and from where it comes from, because it never happened before to me, and i use firefox since early versions ;)

Anyone knows or have this problem?

Maybe there is some kind of incomplete ad blocking going on because I am sure ad sites do not want you to save their file, they want to inject ads into the page.
