Firefox is set as the default browser. When I tap a link it doesn't open up and load the destination page. I just get a small black button that has to be tapped to open Firefox. Can I set something so that Firefox will open automatically?

Does the button say something like

"Tab saved in Firefox | Open now"

Firefox for Android has a feature to "queue" tabs. You can switch that off in the settings:

Firefox menu button > Settings > General

Move the slider next to Tab queue to the off position.

Does that fix it?

Thank you jscher2000. Your solution causes Firefox to open but there is no new tab open with the destination of the link. Any ideas on why?

Hmm, not really. If a link is sent to Firefox, and it's not using Tab queueing, it should open in a new tab right away. If you try the link right away a second time, does it work any better?
