Hi mardigrasveteran, could you walk me through this?

  • On the Preferences page, you set Firefox to ask where you want to save each download.
  • In the file browser, you tell Firefox to save onto your memory card.
  • The file is saved to the memory card but also on the hard drive.

On Windows, the download might be saved in the Windows Temp folder while I am deciding where to save it in the Save As dialog. Are yours saved in a Linux temp folder or somewhere else?

thanks so much for your help. i use linux--ubuntu 18.4. yes, the file is saved to the hard drive and the memory card. for instance, when i close firefox, reopen it, and save another doc, sometimes when i hit save, old doc download names appear. i go into home, snap, firefox, common, downloads and delete old docs that i have downloaded.

Hmm. On some systems, I would suspect that it may not be possible to move a file from a temporary location to a final destination, only to copy it; or that moving is a processing of copying followed by deletion, but the deletion is failing. I have no idea whether that might be the case on your system, or whether there might be system logs that indicate whether deletion failed.
