Apple @me and Apple @icloud email sending problem
Hi folks
I have been trying to add both my Apple @icloud and Apple @me email addresses to my list of Thunderbird email accounts.
I set up the @icloud addresses with Apple's two-factor password generator facility and [in Thunderbird] this accounts works perfectly, but here I mention both as they are both Apple and are linked - sort of.
In Thunderbird I cannot set up a separate mailbox account for @me as it says "Incoming server already exists", which I imagine must be because both @icloud and @me are Apple-related accounts in my name.
I have tried generating a separate two-factor password with Apple for @me, but when using that the same error messages appears - "Incoming server already exists".
However, as both email addresses are Apple-linked, if you write to me at either of them the incoming messages all appear in the @icloud mailbox.
As mentioned above, @icloud is working perfectly, so when I reply to a message that was sent to @icloud it sends as expected.
But, if I click 'Reply' on one of the messages in the @icloud inbox that was sent to the @me address, the Sender and Reciptient are incorrect; they are reversed so that the original sender again becomes the sender of this reply and the original @me recipient is again the recipient; thus, the reply message is simply sent back to the @me account as it of came from the original outside sender.
There appears to be no way of me configuring (a) a reply from the @me name for a message residing in the @icloud inbox or (b) setting up a completely NEW outgoing message for the @me name.
Thus, anyone writing to me at @me will never be able to recveive either a new or reply messgae from my @me account on the Thunderbird platform, although, oddly, I can do so via the iPhone simply by pressing 'Reply', and thereby an outgoing reply from @me just happens].
Can anyone tell me how to do one of the following please:-
1. Within the exsting @icloud mailbox, set it up so that I can click 'Reply' on an @me message I have received and it will be sent as an @me from me.
2. Set up a separate @me mail account - remember the above "Incoming server already exists" problem.
Thanks folks.

Forget option 2, because your @me address is just an alias for your iCloud mailbox and NOT an independently configurable mailbox. What you need is a second identity in Thunderbird which uses the @me address. Identities is how you set up multiple aliases for one account in Thunderbird, and when sending mail, you get to choose which identity you want to use in the FROM field. See Using Identities

iCloud accounts also need to be setup to contain App-Password / App-key , then use that app-key in TB's mail-account, as password . more info remove earlier password from "Saved Passwords" options for that TB mail-account first, before using app-key, restart TB.
