Hi all,

Can anyone tell me why the RT extension (RT News) is not working anymore? Has this been effected by a self-censorship decision, or other issues unrelated to Firefox?

Is this what you are talking about? Russia Today add-ons Blocked https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/contributors/715620?last=83046

So you want to follow information from a Russia state controlled propaganda sites.

Especially now with Russia's unprovoked and unjustified invasion on Ukraine and purposely targeting and destroying many hospitals, schools, churches, kindergartens and residential building and some of those weapons being used on civilians have been (banned) cluster munitions (9N123 cluster munition warhead being used) with plenty of video proof.

This is more of a sanctions and not censorship as the RT extensions were allowed on AMO before the invasion. Google has also removed their hosted RT extensions.

James, this is not a forum to debate the pros or cons of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, or any other for that matter. I will however debate censorship that Mozilla has decided is in our best interests. To do this lets go back to 1962 when the shoe was on the other foot. The Soviet Union was shipping nuclear weapons to Cuba in response to US nuclear weapons in Turkey. Back then we had statesmen like Kennedy & Khrushchev. Both had the full knowledge and understanding of both sides arguments in the conflict, assessed the consequences and diffused the situation without bloodshed. Now fast forward to 2022 and any dissenting or alternative voices from one side has been effectively shut off. This largely stems from the Trump 'RussiaGate' affair and has continues since. Anyone who had anything either neutral or positive to say about Russia's reasons is branded a traitor, or puppet or similar catch-cry's. This is an extremely dangerous approach bearing in mind there are two sides to EVERY coin. Both opinions need to be heard otherwise we will self-reinforce our view all the way to the end. Now the end in this situation is possibly (and growing by the day) total extinction of our species from the universe - never to return. Think about this and let it sink in a bit. If there is anytime to listen to, and assess, both arguments, it is now, just as they did in 1962. Censorship will not benefit anyone in this conflict. With the stakes so high, we need all to understand the reasons behind this and diffuse the situation accordingly. If we cut the alternative view out, we will keep escalating this conflict (as is happening every day) until it breaks. I have promoted and supported Firefox for decades now. However for the reasons mentioned above, I will now move to a different browser as my small stand against the censorship and therefore forced narrative this entails to its users.

Again the removal of the RT related Extensions from AMO in this case is not censorship but more to do with sanctions. The RT extensions were allowed on AMO until sometime after the invasion when they could have been not allowed on AMO at all in first place. It was pointed out that this extension had not been updated since 2018 anyways.

Many extensions get denied or blocked due to breaking policies, security, vulnerabilities, privacy etc, yet nobody says that is censorship.

Others including Google have removed their hosted RT related extensions also as part of sanctions.

My country has one of the largest number of foreign fighters in Ukraine right now with at least 550+ (could be 1000+ soon) and they have their own brigade as a result in their efforts to keep Ukraine alive and intact.

If anything Russia is trying to do their own form of censorship on Ukraine and Russia itself.

Anyways you appear to just want to stir things up so this thread is being locked.
