I understand that nobody want or can help me; it's a rhetorical question. But, #$%$% programmers - why do you do it? Why do you not test a release?

Sorry you are having trouble. Surely you are frustrated, but please keep civility in mind.

There are no widespread reports of users missing address books on update. And the tests which are in place have not seen such an issue.

Which OS are you using? Are the other address books visible and populated? Is problem still seen after Help > Troubleshoot Mode If you check Tools > Developer > Error console after startup and opening AV, is there anything address book related in the console?
