Firefox closes suddenly (entire browser/all windows) when I try to load some pages. For instance, even Time.gov is a problem. The page loads fine but when I click on the time zone Firefox crashes and closes. I've tried this same site while in safe mode and the results were the same. Does this indicate that plug-ins aren't the problem and the problem is something other? I'm grateful for any assistance someone might volunteer.

can you try to reproduce your crash with Firefox 11?

That sounds like a problem with Java.

Does it help if you click the "Disable Java Animation link on that page"

You can try to install the 32 bit Java version.
Scroll down to the Java SE 6 Update 31 and click the JRE Download button.

You can try the Flash widgets on this page as an alternative.

Same situation with Firefox 11. Thanks though for replying.

>>>Does it help if you click the "Disable Java Animation link on that page"

Yes, that did the trick, but what does that mean by way of a long-term solution for other pages that might not offer that option?

I have not (yet) tried your other suggestion of installing the 32 bit Java version. Do you still recommend this? Thank you!

Yes, you still give it a try and install the 32 bit Java version if you only have the 64 bit Java version installed.

I did install the Windows x64 version of Java you specified, restarted the computer, etc. If I don't "Disable Java Animation link on that page" Firefox still crashes/closes as soon as I choose the time zone. This problem is odd because most pages load properly and have full functionality and then every now and then I run into some page that crashes Firefox. Hmmmm?

Thank you again!
