Recent folders view does not update automatically
Thunderbird 24.2.0 on Fedora 18 3.10.4-100.fc18.x86_64
In prior versions of Thunderbird, the recent folders view updated automatically: a mail came in, the filters moved it to the correct folder and that folder appeared automatically on the recent folders view (and the less recent folder disappeared). This is exactly what makes most sense for me (I just come back to the computer and I see directly all folders with new mails without doing anything manually).
Al least on versions 17 and 24, this doesn't happen any more. The recent folders view only updates when I manually change to other view and come back. I don't find any option to change this and I don't find any information about this issue in the web.

Hi,
Please make sure that on start up the filters run. On the account page click on "Manage filters" and open then up and see if "Run on Start up" is checked.
Thanks! Well, I don't see that option. Anyway the filters (I have about 300) are running and work.
The recent folders view changes also when I open a folder even if no new mail goes to that folder, so I don't think it is a filter-related issue.
I don't know if I explain my problem correctly. My wish (and what I had in the past before I upgraded to the version 17) is that I don't need to manually change to other view and back to the recent folders view to have this updated, my wish is that it happens automatically, like in the past. I don't know if it is something general or only my problem.
Hey, Ideally that is what those two check boxes do. They filter the messages when they download new messages on start up, and as Thunderbird is left open the messages are filters as they come in. But I have missed you are talking about the Folder's View? in View > Folders > ...
Thank you again for your time! Yes, I am talking about the recent folders view. Before I upgraded to v. 17 (I don't remember which one I had), I had the following: Let's say that I have the folders A, B, C, D and E. If the recent folders view would show, for example, the 3 most recent, I would see: A B C I was, for example, cooking in the kitchen. A new mail came and my filters filtered it to the folder D. Automatically while I am quietly cooking in the kitchen, the recent folders view changed to: A B D Where the less recent (the C) automatically dissapeared and the (now) most recent (the D) automatically appears, without any kind of intervention of mine. When I come from the kitchen, I just have a look and see if something has changed and what, without need of doing anything. Now, if a mail comes and is filtered into the D, I see still: A B C There is no change until I manually change to other view and then back to the recent folders view. When I come from the kitchen to check if something happened, I have to change to other view, then back to the recent folders view, and it is just then when I see the actual (now) recent folders view: A B D
