I have configured FF to the UK dictionary and removed the US one. When I am writing comments in Yahoo UK, (via FF) my spelling is being checked with an American dictionary.

How to Install and Use another Language in the Dictionary on Thunderbird and you can add the preference by making the installed UK dictionary the top of the list.

guigs2 ---- I have already stated that I have installed the UK dictionary and uninstalled the US one. I only have one dictionary, so it is always at the top.

IanGreen, Of course , there is a feature in the about:config page, "spellchecker.dictionary" make sure this is set to en_UK

and it may be one more, have you tried this: layout.spellcheckDefualt set to different, try each of these: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Layout.spellcheckDefault
