?Somehow over time my email folder names are now wrong. I tried downloading an add on that would supposedly give me the power to correct them but the instructions are:

How to Install in Thunderbird Add Ons 1. Download and save the file to your hard disk. 2. In Mozilla Thunderbird, open Add-ons from the Tools menu. 3. From the options button next to the add-on search field, select "Install Add-on From File..." and locate the downloaded add-on.

and I don't have a Tools menu on my Comcast Xfinity (Mozilla accessed) email p;age.
I don't even know if I have the download but to find that out they say above that I have to " open Add-ons from the Tools menu. 3.	From the options button next to the add-on search field, select "Install Add-on From File..." and locate the downloaded add-on."
How do I do all this when I can't find a Tools menu of the page on which the email folder titles appear?

In the revised Thunderbird interface, you can call up the Tools menu by tapping the Alt key (this reveals or activates the menu bar in many Windows applications).

Thank you for your attempt to help me but tapping Alt doesn't bring anything for me. I have Comcast and the page I'm trying to correct is headed Xfinity but I reach there through Firefox. I don't know if I have the revised Thunderbird Interface or not. Probably not.

I hope someone has a way for me to clean up this email folder title list.

Okay, I see.

Thunderbird is a stand-alone email program that has its own add-ons. For the most part, mail-specific Thunderbird add-ons are not going to work in Firefox.

If you are viewing your mail on a Comcast site through Firefox, you need to work with the tools offered by the site itself. Sometimes if you right-click a folder you will get the option to rename it. However, I don't have access to the site to make specific suggestions.

Thank for continuing to try to help me.

I have right clicked on the titles but none of the options I get seem helpful. I just want to move the email files back into alphabetical order and properly lined up with none indented, as apparent sub files for others.
I guess I could try calling Comcast for tech help on this but similar calls in the past have been unsuccessful.
Do you have any other ideas?

Unfortunately, I don't have access to an Xfinity/Comcast account to see it for myself.

Regarding indenting, it's not uncommon for folders you create to be subfolders of your Inbox. So if the indenting indicates that, it might be normal. But if they are indented under one another, that seems strange.

Hello again,

Thank you for your continuing efforts to help me.
I did try getting help from Comcast who's page it is even though it's accessed from Firefox but the tech I got there was unable to help me and he switched me to what was apparently another firm, Support.com with the phone number 1800 727-8776 who said they could do everything I wished but it would cost $99 up front and then they would come on my computer and fix everything.
I looked up support.com on Google and it's apparently the one at http://corp.support.com/
I hate to spend $99 to get my email folders arranged properly and it seems strange that it's too big a problem for either Comcast or perhaps even Firefox who are the people through whom I went to get on the page.
Do you have any other ideas or suggestions? I'll try anything, maybe even eventually gamble with $99 up front.

                                                                                  Bruice

I'm sure you can think of better ways to spend $99... but if it's really driving you crazy...

I think the problem is that without personal experience, the volunteers here are not able to suggest the steps to take to rearrange things. If you've seen Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo! mail and other sites, you know that each one works differently, and it isn't likely to help you to give advice "blind" based on how other sites work.

If you have friends, neighbors, or co-workers who have Xfinity service, maybe one of them knows how to do it?

Thanks again for you interest and attempts to help.

I will search among my acquaintances as you suggest or maybe some other Comcast user who has solved this problem for himself will see this posting and share their knowledge.

I will also try getting higher in the Comcast tech help chain. Perhaps I can somehow get a transfer from a Comcast tech who doesn't have the answer to a more knowledgeable Comcast tech rather than to an outside firm.

                                                                                Bruce

Thanks again for your continuing efforts to help me.

I tried the instructions you found for me on the Comcast forum but they didn't work either so I tried posting a new query on that Comcast forum at:

http://forums.comcast.com/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/2

 That says:

HOW DO I RE-ALPHABETIZE, UN-INDENT SOME OF THE NAMES NOW somhow INDENTED AND FIND NOW MISSING XFINITY PAGE EMAIL FOLDERS?

MY XFINITY PAGE EMAIL FOLDERS ARE SOMEHOW NOW OUT OF ALPHABETICAL ORDER AS THEY ONCE WERE, SOME ARE MPW INDENTED UNDER THE PRECEDING FOLDER AS IF SUBORDINATE AND SOME EVEN NOW MISSING.

I HAVE TRIED FOLLOWING OTHER EMAIL FOLDER CORRECTION POSTS ON THIS COMCAST FORUM SITE (NUMBER THE NAMES ETC ETC..) BUT NONE HAVE WORKED.

ISN'T HERE SOME WAY TO CORRECT THESE APPARENTLY COMCAST GENERATED PROBLEMS AND KEEP THEM FROM HAPPENING AGAIN?

I TRIED CALLING A COMCAST PHONE TECH AND HE SWITCHED ME TO A COMMERCIAL TECH COMPANY THAT WANTED $99 UP FRONT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. SHOULDN'T COMCAST HELP ME CORRECT THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR PAGE AS PAID FOR WITHIN THE $120 i PAY THEM EACH MONTH?

I wonder if this will get any answers. Comcast apparently created the page so you would think they would know how to work with it.

I didn't get any answers from the Comcast Forum but tried calling Comcast Techs again and this time they wrote a report to a higher lever of tech support who called me back a few days later. That higher level tech told me how to get the Email folder files back in alphabetical order by transferring them in to another file as subordinates and then transferring them out again in alphabetical order.

He could not help me find the missing email folders, I had somehow lost at least three, for they were not in Trash.
Unless I can get some suggestions from someone on this forum on where i might find these lost files, I will try Dell Tech Support next time I call them and they come on my computer from India. Maybe they know where to find the lost email folders.

I'm glad you got at least a partial solution so far.

If you can't find those lost folders buried in other folders or in the Trash, I wouldn't know where else they could be hiding.

Hello again,

Thanks for once again trying to help me.
I clean out my Recycle Bin occasionally and those missing email folders were not in there before my last cleaning nor are they in the two Trash files I have unless they are buried very deeply.
Is there any way to search for specific file titles within your email trash files?

                                                                               Bruce

I was thinking of the Trash folder(s) in your account in Thunderbird. I've never deleted a mail folder in the accounts I have set up in Thuderbird, so I don't know how/where that shows up I suppose it's possible that everything just gets dumped into trash as individual messages.

Hello again,

Thanks for continuing to try to help.
If those email folders, which I didn't delete purposly but just disappeared, have been broken up into the original filed emails and gone into trash individually and by date sent me, there is no way I can find them.
I guess my only hope now is those Dell techs in India next time I call them and if they can't find them, they're just lost forever.
It all seems a very poorly designed system and I guess Comcast is the culprit for that. I don't know what I've done wrong, if anything, or I would avoid doing it again.
Thanks again for your help on this.
