Hi, you shouldn't have Yahoo, Google or anything else as the New Tab, because for security reasons, from Firefox 41, you need to use an add-on like New Tab Override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the New Tab page.

Once installed, open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A) > Extensions, then look for New Tab Override and click on Options to set your preference.

Note, if you only want the New Tab to be the same as your home page, you can use the add-on New Tab Homepage instead.

You may then need to restart Firefox for any changes to take effect.

If you still can't get rid of Yahoo, have a look in the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A), for anything 'Yahoo' that might have crept in, and disable or remove it.

If that doesn't help, you can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

You could look at the Firefox shortcut properties of the icon. Right click and use the properties option. Anything after where it says firefox.exe is likely added by malware. Scribe's instructions though should solve or at least highlight that and more.
